Industry 4.0

Industry 4.0

The concept of factories in which machines are augmented with wireless connectivity and sensors, connected to a system that can visualize the entire production line and make decisions on its own. In essence, Industry 4.0 describes the trend towards automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies and processes which include cyber-physical systems (CPS), the internet of things (IoT), industrial internet of things, cloud computing, cognitive computing and artificial intelligence.

Industry 4.0 fosters what has been called a “smart factory”. Within modular structured smart factories, cyber-physical systems monitor physical processes, create a virtual copy of the physical world and make decentralized decisions. Over the Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems communicate and cooperate with each other.

Warehouse & Factory Design

This project showcases the possibilites of simulating warehouses and factories to optimize the layout, processes, automated handling systems and storage. Automated systems such as AGVs and AS/RS are explictitely modelled and using simulation we are able to optimize your logistics flow in a warehouse or factory.
